IMPORTANT THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT YOUR BANKRUPTCY!

  • It is illegal to cash a tax return for the year you file, or any year prior to filing.
  • Your bankruptcy is not "closed" until the trustee closes the case. Reminder as to when your case closes
  • Your discharge does not mean that your case is closed.
  • You must provide a Picture ID and proof of Social Security Number


         Acceptable forms of ID:

    Driver's License
    Government Picture ID
    State Picture ID
    Student Picture ID
    US Passport
    Military ID
    Resident Alien card
    Mexican Consulate Card [added in 2002]

         Acceptable forms of proof of SSN:

    SS Card
    Medical insurance card with full SSN on it
    W-2 Form
    IRS 1099
    SSA report with SSN on it
